Friday saw the tip-off of the annual European Basketball Tour, Cyprus event. In the first day of the competition Russia demolished Bulgaria, Israel overcame Poland while Greece stunned Italy.
In the opening match of the tournament Israel was convincing against Poland, eventhough they were missing some starting players such as Casspi and Halperin. Lior Eliyahu was the MVP of the game with 19 points and 5 rebounds. {jathumbnail off}

In the second match of the first day Russia took on Bulgaria and they showed no mercy, destroying them 88-51. Fridzon, Mozgov, Kirilenko and Antonov all scored double digit numbers while the giant Mozgov also pulled down nine rebounds.

In the closing match of the night, Greece continued their tradition of good performances and results at the European Basketball Tour by overcoming Italy, 76-70. The Greek side was surprisingly led my Bramos in scoring while Fotsis grabbed eight rebounds. For the Italians their NBA players Belinelli and Bargnani each scored 21 and 14 respectively.
