Sharks Confirm Tuck

The One Health Sharks Sheffield Basketball Club have announced the signing of power forward Mike Tuck for another season.

The popular Canadian will return to Sheffield for his third season with the back-to-back BBL Cup winners.

Since joining the Sharks in December 2009 Tuck has provided player-coach Atiba Lyons with flexibility in his front court and also an unselfishness when coming off the bench as Sheffield’s sixth man.

Lyons, who will be starting his fourth season as Sharks play-caller, said he was delighted to be bringing the 6ft 7in Tuck back to the club.

He said: “Mike has been a key member of our squad since he joined us and has definitely contributed a large amount to our Cup wins.

“He runs the floor well, has a knack of picking up rebounds and points at crucial times and sacrifices himself for the team every night. “He’s the kind of player that a coach loves to have around and once again he’ll be one of the most important guys on our roster.”

Tuck, from Toronto, averaged 13.8 points per game and 8.4 rebounds per game last season for the Sharks.

He said: “I’m very pleased to have re-signed with the Sharks. I love playing for the club and living in the city. It’s a real home from home for me.

“We won one trophy last year and came close to winning a couple more so hopefully with several of the guys coming back and Atiba adding a few more pieces we can be even more successful this season.”

Sharks frontcourt is already looking strong. Lyons has been joined by Olu Babalola and Tuck with more announcements expected shortly.
