Sonny Weems heading to Europe

Sonny Weems of Toronto Raptors should make a move to Europe, according to Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld.com. It is reported that the 24-year-old forward is on the verge of singing a deal with a team in Europe.

Weems, who became an unrestricted free agent last week, decided it would be best for him to improve his game overseas during NBA lockout.

The player would sign a one-year deal with a team in Europe without an NBA-out. That means Weems will not go back to NBA once the collective bargainign agreement is signed.

Last season was Weems’ third in NBA. It was also his best season so far. Sonny Weems averaged 9.2 points and 2.6 rebounds for the Toronto Raptors.

It is not yet reported in what European team the NCAA 2008 Dunk Contest champion would land.
