Rytas hires Dzikic, signs Seibutis

With less than 24 hours after Krka won Slovenian league title, coach Aleksandar Dzikic flew to Vilnius to finalize his contract with Lietuvos Rytas where he is expected to spend at least two years.

40-year-old Serbian coach signed ‘2+1’-year contract with the Lithuanian club. Dzikic, who has also worked in NBA at Minesotta Timberwolves, is considered to be one of the most promising coaches of the new generation.

When speaking about his new job Dzikic stated that he wants to gather players who are not afraid of hard work and believe in success of the team. Rytas’ priority will be signing Lithuanian players.

The appointment of Dzikic was announced together with the news about a new player. Renaldas Seibutis, a member of Lithuanian national team, returns home after six years abroad. 26-year-old shooting guard spent last season in Turkey with Olin Erdine and has welcomed the opportunity to play in his native country again.

The player admitted that he received very serious interest from Galatasaray. He was also in talks with Lietuvos Rytas for the past two months. However, according to Seibutis, his priority was to sign with Rytas.

Seibutis, whose last team in Lithuania was Sakalai Vilnius, put pen on a 3-year contract. Rytas hopes to build a team for the future and Seibutis is expected to become one of the team’s key players.
