Spain should be able to field its strongest roster as the team will try to retain European title later this year in Lithuania. Los Angeles Lakers star Pau Gasol confirmed his decision to represent his country again after one year of absence.
Pau Gasol played for Spain last time in EuroBasket 2009 and helped his team win gold for the first time in history.
Lakers’ early exit out of NBA playoffs this season gave more time for Pau Gasol to rest and will surely give him additional motivation competing for Spain.
Pau’s younger brother Marc is also expected to be a part of Sergio Scariolo’s side. Despite his status as a restricted free agent, Marc Gasol said that he wants to play in EuroBasket 2011.
Spain will face hosts Lithuania, Turkey, Great Britain, Poland and a team from additional qualifying tournament in Group A in Panevezys.
