Jose Calderon officially announced his retirement from basketball and his decision to join the NBPA as Special Assistant.

Per the Washington Post, Calderon will offer his services as Special Assistant to the NBPA Executive Director Michele Roberts.

Calderon put an end to a 20-year career, which started in 1998. After playing for four years in the EuroLeague (Baskonia, 2002-2005), he moved to the NBA, where he spent the rest of his career (2005-2018).

The Spanish guard competed in 935 NBA games, averaging 8.9 points, 5.8 assists and 2.4 rebounds in the regular season as well as 6.5 points, 3.1 assists and 1.4 rebounds in the playoffs.

Calderon also claimed three Olympic medals, one World Cup gold medal and four more EuroBasket medals with the national team of Spain.
