Still another game to play…

Cajasol Seville bested Budivelnyk Kiev by 18 points, 67-49, thanks to a great last quarter, when the local team outscored in ten crazy minutes. Txemi Urtasun and Kirksay were the best men in Cajasol while Betts did a good job on the paint for Budivelnyk.

Cajasol started really nervous. It was the first time that the team reached these high levels in European competitions, and Budivelnyk took advantage of it. Wilson scored 6 points for his team, but because of foul problems he had to go to the bench. After this initial storm, Cajasol recovered and took the lead on the score. This time the gym was packed, full of fans, and they helped their team in such bad moments.

In the second quarter, again Cajasol seemed to get a good advantage, but then Budivelnyk scored some points and tied the score. Anyway, it was a very defensive game, with both teams more concentrated on defense than on scoring. Bullock finally played for Cajasol despite his injury, but he never was a dangerous weapon from beneath the arc. It’s also true that there was some kind of curse on Cajasol because the finished with a poor 13% in this matter. Moreover, Betts did a great job defending Paul Davis, who never joined the game.

In the second half something changed. Urtasun started to score and Cajasol was able to run the floor, so things were a lot easier. Despite this, the referees called a technical foul to Davis, and Budivelnyk managed to be not far away… yet. Because in last quarter, everything went crazy…

Cajasol stepped onto the court decided to finish the game. It seemed that they hadn’t been playing for over an hour before. The spectators put some gasoline on the players, and they ran like cheetahs. Budivelnyk was completely shocked because of the high defensive level and the way to run the floor on the fast break. This time the three-pointers went in, and Cajasol managed to get a 20-points advantage; in the end the difference reduced to 18. A good advantage for the next week, no doubt.

According to Billy Key’s words, it will be very difficult for his team to overcome Cajasol in Ukraine, but despite this, sevillian team shouldn’t travel there too much overconfident. It’s a historical opportunity for the city to become a well known club in Europe, and they should take their chance.
