In the third round of the EuroLeague, Maccabi Fox Tel Aviv prevailed over Crvena Zvezda (84-69) in “Menora Mivtachim” Arena after overtime.

Looking at the scores by quarters, Maccabi was better than Crvena Zvezda only in the first 10 minutes. The team from Israel won that part of the game with a score of 24:13.

In the other three quarters, the guests were getting closer and finally, in the last part of the game, Michael Ojo made a pair of free throws and forced an overtime (67-67).

In the extra period, Maccabi totally took control of the match and defended their home court against Crvena Zvezda. The home team didn’t allow its opponent to score more than 2 points in the additional 5 minutes.

Scottie Wilbekin was the best scorer (16 points) for Maccabi, while Omri Casspi, who returned to the EuroLeague after spending 10 years in the NBA, was the best player. Casspi had 15 points and 8 rebounds for an index rating of 24. Nate Wolters also scored 15 points and Tarik Black added 11.

Stratos Perperoglou had an excellent night for the Serbians, but his efforts weren’t enough for his team to steal a win. The Greek player finished the game with 18 points and 5 rebounds (index rating of 16). Aside from him, Ognjen Dobrić was the only one that scored in double figures (10 points).

Next week in the EuroLeague, Crvena Zvezda will host Barcelona and Maccabi is also going to play at home, but against Valencia.
