Some of Real’s play during Ettore Messina‘s reign can only be described as wild. In Roma I had the impression that they knew what they were doing for the first time in months. One of the positive signs is the performance of Sergio Rodriguez. Sergio looked clueless during the first games of the season but showed nice composure and the ability to organise the offense in Rome, leading Real to a 18 point victory via 9 points, 7 boards, 6 assists and a +/- of +21 in 35,6 minutes of play. Point guard play is surely one of the keys to Real’s season. Sergio made intelligent decisions all game. Nobody cares for unspectacular 2/5 shooting from the field. In fact, a high number of point guard shot attempts is something that always deserves a critical investigation. See Brown, Bobby. Gordon, Jamont. Or Lafayette, Oliver.
