Dwight Howard says he has “no problem with playing the five” next to Anthony Davis

In a recent sit-down interview with Shams Charania of Stadium, big man Dwight Howard, who returned to the Los Angeles Lakers after six years, said he is ready to play center alongside Anthony Davis:

“I said I have no problem with playing the five. I’ve been doing it my whole life. I’ve played against some of the biggest centers: Shaq, Yao Ming, Jermaine O’Neal, Mutombo, Embiid, all these guys I’ve played against, you know, and I actually enjoy, you know, playing defense. So, I have no problem with that,” Howard told, per ClutchPoints.

Howard missed most part of the 2018-19 season owing to injuries, averaging 12.8 points along with 9.2 rebounds per game. Davis, meanwhile, averaged 25.9 points, 12.0 boards, 2.4 blocks and 3.9 assists per contest.
