In a recent appearance on The Woj Pod, the Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard CJ McCollum, who signed to a three-year, $100 million contract extension this summer, discussed a lot of topics, including the Kawhi Leonard-to-Lakers scenario:

“Deep down, I was hoping he didn’t go there. I was looking at the roster, I was looking at what they were putting together, and you want to be in a position to win championships and to make runs and looking at that roster, they would’ve been a serious problem. You got LeBron … already a problem, you got AD … a super problem, and you add him and it becomes a World War II-type situation. They got the grenades and the atomic bombs all in one and guys who can play both sides of the ball, so I was relieved. I was like, ‘Oh that’s good, at least he didn’t go to the Lakers,'” McCollum said.

This past season, the 27-year-old averaged 21.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.
