Jordi Bertomeu criticised the calendar of FIBA and its decision to move the Basketball World Cup one year before the Olympic Games.

Here is what the president and CEO of the EuroLeague said, per La Gazzetta dello Sport:

“FIBA’s calendar is proven wrong in every event from the windows for the national teams to the World Cup the year before the Olympic Games.

Even if it moves the World Cup again, the problem with the windows remains. The national teams should play important home games, but we remain on our proposal to date those contests in July.

EuroLeague has no relation to FIBA, which is another very important part of basketball. The EuroLeague will not change its structure, but over time there may be many possible collaborations, surely on the Champions League that only creates confusion with its name.”
