Australia secured the win (82-70) against the national team of Czech Republic and qualified for the semi-finals of the Basketball World Cup for the first time in its history.

Patty Mills finished the game with 24 points and six assists, while Chris Goulding added 14. On the other hand, Tomas Satoransky had 13 points, 13 assists and 9 rebounds for the Czech Republic.

The “Boomers” took control of the game in the second half, while Patty Mills was shooting the lights out in order to qualify for the semi-finals.

After a low scoring first half, in which both teams shot with low percentages, Australia took a small lead in the third quarter and began to build on it.

The “Boomers” converted the 33-30 of the first half into the 63-48, with a 30-18 run, to close the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Australia controlled the game by securing the rebounds, while scoring with great efficiency (they finished the game with 37% from the three-point line).

That’s the first time that the “Aussies” secured a spot in the top-four teams and qualified for the semi-finals in the history of the tournament.

On Friday, Australia will face Spain for a spot in the World Cup final.
