World Cup classification games roundup – September 7th

New Zealand, Canada, Turkey and Germany won in their first games of World Cup classification round (17th until 32nd place).

Team of New Zealand won 111-81 against Japan in the first match of the day. Corey Webster was the top performer for the winning squad with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (index rating of 35), while Isaac Fotu added 23 points and 10 rebounds (index rating of 26).

On the other side, Nick Fazekas finished the match with 31 points and 9 rebounds (index rating of 29). The only other double-digit scorer for Japan was Daiki Tanaka (10 points).

Canada scored 126 points against Jordan, while only allowed its opponent to score 71. Kyle Wiltjer was the player of the match with 29 points (index rating of 30). Besides him, four other players finished the game with 10+ points for CanadaConor Morgan (14), Melvin Ejim (13), Cory Joseph (11) and Kevin Pangos (10).

Jordan’s players weren’t motivated as much as their opponents and only two players scored more than 10 points against CanadaDar Tucker (13) and Amin Abu Hawwas (11).

In the European clash, Turkey was better than Montenegro with a score of 79-74. The Cleveland Cavaliers player Cedi Osman scored 19 points for Turkey, while Melih Mahmutoglu (Fenerbahce captain) added 17 and James Metecan Birsen ended the game with 15 points and 8 rebounds. But, the best player for the Turkish squad was Scottie Wilbekin with 9 points, 13 assists and 5 rebounds (index rating of 28).

Nikola Vučević was the best scorer on the other side. The center of the Orlando Magic had 20 points and 7 rebounds for an index rating of 16. Bojan Dubljević had the same index rating. The player of Valencia ended the match with 12 points and 8 rebounds.

Germany won 89-78 against Senegal in the last World Cup classification game of the day. Dennis Schroder had an amazing performance for Germany.

The Oklahoma City Thunder player scored 24 points with 12 assists and 6 rebounds for the index rating of 34, while Maurice Ndour from Senegal finished the match with 17 points.

In the second round of the World Cup classification games (from 17th place till 32nd), Japan will face Montenegro, Jodan will play against Senegal, Turkey against New Zealand and Germany against Canada.
