Huge blow for Spain National Team as their leader and “brain” Jose Calderon will miss the World Championship after receiving an injury during last night’s friendly game against the United States.
Calderon received a heavy bruise on his thigh during the game, which the U.S. won in a close fashion 86-85 thanks to two blocks by Durant in the dying second on Ricky Rubio and Rudy Fernandez.
After the medical tests it was diagnosed that the player must rest for at least a month in order to recover, which means he will miss the 2010 Turkey World Championship which tips off on Saturday.
Naturally this comes as a great shock for the Spanish teams and fans as after Pau Gasol they see their second biggest star and NBA player missing the tournament.
