Team USA started their Basketball World Cup campaign with a convincing 67-88 victory over the Czech Republic, with Donovan Mitchell posting 16 points.

Harrison Barnes (14 points), Kemba Walker (13 points) and Jayson Tatum (10 points) scored in double figures for the winners as well. On the other hand, Tomas Satoransky had a game-high 17 points for the losing squad.

Czech Republic remained competitive only in the opening quarter (14-17). After that, the Americans took over.

Thanks to a 15-26 run in the second quarter, they closed the first half in front by 14 and sealed the deal (29-43). The Czechs never recovered and suffered their first defeat in Group E.

Team USA will battle Turkey on Tuesday (03/08), whereas the Czech Republic will face Japan.
