Poland started World Cup with the win against Venezuela

Michal Sokolowski helped Poland win 80-69 against Venezuela in the first World Cup match of Group A.

The Player of the match (Sokolowski) had 16 points with nine rebounds for an index rating of 24. Four of his teammates also finished the game with 10 or more points – Mateusz Ponitka (15), Adam Waczynski (13), Aaron Cel (12) and Adam Hrycaniuk (10).

On the other side, Pedro Chourio was the top scorer with 15 points, while his teammate Dwight Lewis added 12. Those two players were the only ones with double-digit score in team Venezuela.

Poland didn’t open the match very well and after the first quarter Venezuela was leading by two (24-22). But, in the next 30 minutes, the European club managed to take the lead and finish the game with the first win in World Cup 2019 in China.

In the second round of Group A, Poland is going to face the hosts (team of China), while Venezuela will play against Cote d’Ivoire.
