Australian/Serbian center, Aleks Maric declined the invitation of the Australian Basketball Federation to play for the Australian NT, claiming a knee injury that had him sidelined for several weeks during winter.
It is of course not to be ruled out that the Australia-born and raised Maric, simply doesn’t want to play for Australia as he has expressed in the past that he prefers to play for Serbia. The only way for that to happen is for the Australian Federation and FIBA to accept it, as Maric has already competed with Australian junior teams in various international tournaments.
