World Championship Round-Up Part 1

LeBron JamesLebron James said that he’s “probably not playing” for Team USA this summer in Turkey.

The reigning NBA MVP has a hectic summer schedule, and on the top of his ‘to-do list’ is sort out his future in the league, as James will be a free agent this summer.

“I got a really, really, really, really, really busy summer,” he said.

“I would love if I had the opportunity and the time to play to represent my country and go out there and do that. But there’s a lot of things I need to take care of first.”

USA Basketball Chairman, Jerry Colangelo though is not thinking about the summer’s event in Turkey just yet, as the USA will not report to training camp until July, but stressed that any player that misses the World Championships without a valid reason, might not be selected to play in the 2012 Olympics in London. That includes Lebron James.

Colangelo stated: “If someone chooses not to play this summer just because he chooses not to play, there’s no guarantee he’ll be in London.”

In other news, Argentina head-coach, Sergio Hernandez has travelled to the United States to meet with his players that are based there.

Manu Ginobili of San Antonio, Luis Scola of Houston, Carlos Delfino of Milwaukee, Andres Nocioni of Sacramento and Fabricio Oberto of Washington are all players Hernandez want to have in Turkey, where his team will face Serbia, Australia, Germany, Angola and Jordan in Group A.

There was a injury scare for Carlos Delfino last week, as the guard had to be stretchered off during Milwaukee’s game against the Miami Heat – when Miami’s Udonis Haslam accidentally stepped on his neck, but the Argentinian appears to be okay.

Hernandez stated that he wasn’t going Stateside to ask his NBA core that they are playing in Turkey.

“I always act in the same manner, whether it’s with the national team or with my club, or with everything else,” Hernandez said.

“The expectations are simply to have a chat with them, tell them we are planning the preparations, know their feelings, how they feel, how they see themselves and their possible participation in the team or not.

“At times when one has doubts , you talk about the aims and the dates that can help them answer those doubts.
