Virtus Bologna released an official statement to address the condition of Milos Teodosic and his participation in the Basketball World Cup.

Here is what the Italian club stated:

“Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna SpA announces that today (20/08) coach Djordjevic spoke to the media gathered in Belgrade on the occasion of the departure of the Serbian national team for the 2019 Basketball World Cup.

On this occasion, the absence of Milos Teodosic, who will then remain in Europe to continue the recovery program following the accident suffered on August 10th, was made official.

The player will be in Bologna in the coming days at the disposal of the staff of Virtus Segafredo, continuing the work at the Isokinetic center.

We had a constant collaboration and communication with colleagues from the Serbian Federation – commented the CEO of Virtus Segafredo, Luca Baraldi – and I would like to thank President Danilovic, Coach Djordjevic and Prof. Radovanovic for their sensitivity and willingness.

We know well what Milos represents in Serbia and for the national team, we are very sorry that he is not in China, but it is right to put the player’s health and recovery first and that’s what we will do too.

We have before our eyes numerous cases of injured top players, we need great attention and great care in front of an increasingly pressing calendar. There are too many injuries and the big players must be protected because they are the protagonists of the show.”

Given Virtus’ announcement, it is clear now that Teodosic will miss the upcoming Basketball World Cup.
