Osman, Ilyasova led Turkey past Italy in the final day of the “Acropolis Tournament”

Turkey made a come-back in the fourth quarter and edged Italy (72-70) in the final day of the “Acropolis Tournament” in Athens.

The Italians made a better start (12-19), but the Turks went on a 26-16 run to close the first half in front by three (38-35).

Italy, though, outscored its opponents 10-26 in the third quarter and re-claimed the lead (48-61).

Yet, Turkey was unstoppable in the final 10 minutes and went on a 24-9 run to turn things around and won the game (72-70), as Alessandro Gentile could not give the Italians the victory.

Cedi Osman had a team-high 20 points for the winners, while Ersan Ilyasova and Furkan Korkmaz added 16 and 12 points, respectively. Gentile had a game-high 26 points for the losing squad, while Daniel Hackett posted 16.

Turkey finished third in the “Acropolis Tournament” and Italy fourth.
