Belgium wins first qualifier

ImageBelgium took the first step towards qualification for the Eurobasket in Poland after beating France with 70-66 infront of 5600 Belgian fans in the first game held in Antwerp.

France will need to cover the 4-point margin in the second game that will be held in France on the 30th of August, in order to qualify instead of Belgium.

France started off good winning the first quarter 19-27. The Belgians however won all the remaining quarters to win the game 70-66. The French tied the game 64-64 with 1:51 to go after Belgium had gained a 6-point lead (64-58). Belgium answered with two 3-pointers by Dimitri Lauwers and sealed the deal at the end.
