John Robert Holden has officially admitted that he will not be playing for the Russian National Team in the upcoming Eurobasket 2009. Although this was something expected, it was the first time the player publicly stated his decision. More specifically while talking about his contract renewal with CSKA, which will see him in Moscow and Russian in general for another 2 years, making it a total of 9 years, Holden also explained his decision to sit out of Eurobasket 2009.
"I am now in the United states, spending some time with my family and training about 4-5 times per week. I have decided to make some changes this summer, hence I decided to be absent from Eurobasket 2009." the player said.
