The head coach of France, Vincent Collet, talked about the goal of the national team in the Basketball World Cup.

Here is what Collet said, per BeBasket:

“The goals are high but mostly driven by the Olympic Games goal. The objective of the Federation is to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics and that’s also the goal for this France team.

Which doesn’t prohibit anything. We can go as high as we can, knowing that there are two ways to qualify for the Olympic Games. The one that I prefer, of course, is the direct one, but also the shortest one: To be one of the two best European countries in the World Cup.

To speak clearly, in my opinion, to at least be in the semifinals. And that’s not even guaranteed because it’s quite possible that there are two European teams on the podium.”
