Giannis Antetokounmpo is set to play for Greece in the 2019 Basketball World Cup and make history.

The “Greek Freak” will become the first reigning NBA MVP to participate in the Basketball World Cup. This has never happened in the previous 18 editions of the tournament.

Antetokounmpo will return to international competitions with the Greek national team for the first time since the 2016 Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

The previous NBA MVP winners either skipped the tournament or their respective country didn’t qualify for the tournament (Steve Nash, Canada).
