Sport Express reports that's Russian Basketball Federation (RBF) has applied to European Basketball Championship in 2015. Sergei Chernov, president of RBF will participate in FIBA Europe's presidential elections in 2010 and is willing to use this position to bring Eurobasket 2015 to his home country.
Russia was offered to host World Championship in 2014 but they refused because Eurobasket 2015 will also be a qualifying tournament for 2016 Summer Olympics. Current European champions are hoping to qualify on their home soil in front of their own fans.
We remind that Eurobasket 2009 will be held in Poland while Eurobasket 2011 – in Lithuania.
