In an interview with FIBA, Rudy Gobert referred to the participation of France in the 2019 World Cup and the target of the national team.

Here is what the center of the Utah Jazz said:

On the goal of France in the World Cup: “We will be very ambitious. We want to have a great run and try to fight for the top spots. Nothing is impossible. We want to fight for the best and we would like to write another great chapter in France’s basketball history.

The level of the competition is going to be very high, so a lot of teams can reach the top three spots. Australia, Canada, Lithuania and many more teams are also very ambitious, so we’ll have to bring our A game to get to the top spots.”

On him joining the national team: “It’s one of my goals for this year and I’m looking forward to competing in China this summer. I want to wear the “bleu” jersey this summer and represent my country.

We’ve been talking with Boris Diaw and the coaching staff about the program and the training camp. I’m excited about this summer.”

On the opponents of France (Germany, Jordan, Dominican Republic): “I really like the group we’re in. It’s a good one and all the teams are going to be competitive. We want to get the first spot and go to the next round with the best record.

We’re ambitious, we want to have a great run and show that France is one of the best national teams in the world. This is going to be a great competition, we are all very excited to go to China and compete on the world stage and we will be ready to give our best. We know Germany and a bit about the Dominican Republic, but I don’t know that much about Jordan.

At this level, every team can play very well and is a dangerous opponent so we’ll play every game with the same focus and determination.”
