Magic Johnson announced on Tuesday (09/04) that he will no longer be the president of basketball operations of the LA Lakers.

“I want to go back to having fun. I want to go back to being who I was before taking on this job, and we’re halfway there with LeBron coming.

I think this summer, with that other star coming in — whoever’s going to come in — I think this team is going to be in a position to really contend for a championship with the growth of the other young players,” Johnson told the media prior to the team’s final regular season game vs the Portland Trail Blazers (101-104).

The Lakers had a disastrous season and failed to advance to the playoffs. The CEO of the team, Jeanie Buss, took to Twitter and thanked Magic Johnson.
