AEK wants Dragan Sakota

ImageAfter just five league games AEK is already thinking of replacing their coach, Kostas Flevarakis, due to the club's poor record which has left them trailing the league table with 1-4. The team wants Dragan Sakota to replace him.

Of course Flevarakis' hands were tied as he could not use AEK's foreign players in most of the games due to a FIBA decision because the club owed money to Smiljan Pavic, a former AEK player.

Nevertheless as basketblog.gr reports AEK president Charalambos Karamanlis wants Dragan Sakota as the new coach. Sakota has coached AEK before. In fact it was him that led AEK to their last championship and the one who managed to win the Greek A1 outside of Panathinaikos and Zeljko Obradovic in the last 10 seasons.

Sakota's last team was in Fortitudo Bologna last season. It is doubtful whether he will accept AEK's offers because of the club;s bad financial and sporting current situation.
