Rocks sign forward Michael Crowell

Glasgow RocksThe Glasgow Rocks have completed the signing of 6ft7 US/German, Michael Crowell. The athletic forward will bring added depth to player/coach, Sterling Davis' side as he looks to build some winning momentum going into the New Year.

"Michael will give us a little more depth offensively especially with his ability to knock down the three point shot in bunches. He's got a good size to him especially for his position which is always a plus for any coach because it causes such huge matchup problems when time to defend it, but also works to our advantage defensively to be able to have a bigger defender on the perimeter."

Crowell, a graduate of Division 1 Idaho University has experience playing in Europe, both in Spain and, more recently, Germany where he spent last season with Weissenhorn.

"He's got some good experience professionally with stints in Spain and Germany, two high calibre places to play basketball within Europe, with most of his success happening in the latter. I think he will come in fresh, and motivated to prove to himself and others what type of player he can be."

Crowell flies into Glasgow on Monday to begin training ahead of his likely Rocks debut on Sunday 29th November when the Rocks face the Worcester Wolves at Kelvin Hall. With player/coach Sterling Davis serving a one match ban, Crowell will be looking to prove himself as a serious contender in Davis' starting five.

"It's hard to believe that a guy with his talent is still out there and has been throughout the course of the summer. I think he will definitely be an asset to what we are trying to accomplish here."
