EuroLeague Round 29 Recap: Zalgiris Kaunas swept Olympiacos

Zalgiris Kaunas defeated Olympiacos for a second time this season and boosted its playoff hopes, with one round to go in the regular season.

The Lithuanians came back from a 12-point deficit in the third quarter (51-39) and outscored the “Reds” 17-33 in the last 15 minutes of the game to seal the deal (68-72).

Aaron White had 14 points for the winners, whereas Briante Weber led the losing squad with a game-high 26 points.

Both teams now have identical records (14-15), but Zalgiris has the tie-breaker. Olympiacos lost for the eighth time in the last 10 matches.

Baskonia had to win Anadolu Efes at home in order to come one step away from the playoffs, yet the Turks stepped up and claimed a big victory at the Fernando Buesa Arena (92-102).

It was a close game in the first 30 minutes (67-74), but the visitors made the difference in the fourth quarter and took a double-digit lead (78-91) to cruise to the victory.

Tibor Pleiss and Adrien Moerman had 21 points apiece for the winners, whereas Luca Vildoza posted a game-high 23 points for the losing squad.

Anadolu Efes, which has already secured the fourth place, improved to 19-10. On the other hand, Baskonia dropped to 15-14, but still has the upper hand in the playoff race.

Darussafaka came back from double-digit deficits on several occasions and beat Bayern Munich at home (92-87), eliminating the Germans from the playoffs.

The visitors led by 16 and 14 points, respectively, during the game (6-22, 44-58), yet the hosts turned things around and earned a big win at home.

Toney Douglas and Jeremy Evans led the winners with 26 and 23 points, respectively. On the other hand, Petteri Koponen had a team-high 23 points for the losing squad.

Darussafaka improved to 5-24, whereas Bayern Munich dropped to 13-16 and was eliminated from the playoffs.

CSKA Moscow led by as many as 19 points against Khimki (42-61) and claimed an easy win in the Russian derby (72-80). Thanks to this victory, CSKA secured the second place in the standings.

Nando De Colo posted 14 points for the winners, whereas Alexey Shved had 17 points and seven assists for the losing squad.

CSKA improved to 23-6, with Khimki dropping to 9-19.
