Home Domestic Leagues Macaulay and Minor Take Awards

Macaulay and Minor Take Awards

MoltenWe are now a month into the 2009/10 BBL season and results up and down the country are showing that it will once again be a competitive league this year. The Newcastle Eagles have once again shown that they will be a force to be reckoned with, but the out of nowhere, the Marshall MK Lions have stormed to 6 wins in 7 games in the first month, their only loss being to the Glasgow Rocks in their opening game of the season. Needless to say, the Molten BBL Coach of the Month Award for October goes to Vince Macaulay, head coach of the Lions.

Macaulay was pleased to accept the award, and paid tribute to his team's attitude. He commented: 'I am delighted to accept this award, and credit must go to the player for battling on whilst we were waiting for EJ (Harrison) to get here. Credit must also go to EJ for slotting into everything we were doing once he had arrived. This really got us over the hump – the guys have worked really hard and I would like to thank my assistant coaches, Mike New and Roger Malpass.'

The Molten BBL Player of the Month goes to Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders player Tack Minor. The American point guard has proved to be a hit with Riders fans, as in an average of 32.16 minutes a game; he has averaged just over 25 points. He has also racked up 56 assists already, at an average of 8.9 per game, leading the league in this category. Narrowly second in scoring and in points scored per minute on court, he is top of the league in assist productivity with an assist every 3.43 minutes.
