BBL Team of the Week #2

BBL ChampionshipThe second weekend of BBL Championship action saw some outstanding performances from across the league, as Glasgow Rocks, Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders, Sheffield Sharks, Essex Pirates, Worthing Thunder, Cheshire Jets and Guildford Heat all recorded valuable wins. The outstanding performer of the week though, has to be Worthing Thunder's Reggie Bratton. The American could not have had more of an impact on a tense encounter between the Thunder and the Rocks, as he netted 47 points; on 6/8 three point shooting and 7/7 free throw shooting. Most notably, he made the shot that mattered, sinking a massive three ball with 8 seconds left securing a 93- 91 victory for the South Coast side.

Joining him at the Forward spots this week, is former GB International Mike Martin. Martin was an unstoppable force in the Heat's 94-76 over Essex Pirates, as he bagged 18 points on 8/9 field goal shooting in just 29.42 minutes on court. Similar stats can be assigned to Centre Tafari Toney, who impressed in the Sharks 84-78 win over the Thunder on Friday night, with a double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds.

Running the show in this week's Team of the Week are guards Reggie Jackson (Newcastle Eagles) and Tack Minor (Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders). Minor makes his second consecutive appearance, as he shone in both of the Riders games over the weekend, scoring 28 points against the Eagles on 5/6 free throw shooting, on Friday night, and then following this up with an influential 32 points in Leicester's win over Everton at home, including 6 points in the final minute to get his team back in the game, as well as dishing out 14 assists in that game.

Jackson outscored his opposite number, Minor, on Friday night, in the Eagles' only game of the weekend, as he racked up 30 points and 7 assists, as well as shooting an impressive 4/7 from behind the arc.
