Virtus Bologna announced that Sasa Djordjevic has taken over the club and will replace Stefano Sacripanti, who was let go on Monday (11/03).

Djordjevic will also remain the head coach of the Serbian national team, while he returns to the bench of a European team for the first time since March 2018, when he parted ways with Bayern Munich.

Bologna is currently 10th in the Italian League (10-11 record), while the Italian squad will face Le Mans on Wednesday (13/03), in Game 2 of the first knockout stage of the Basketball Champions League.

The first game ended in a draw (74-74) and the winner of the next one will advance to quarterfinals.
