As the second half of the NBA season gets underway, Toronto Raptors All-Star Kyle Lowry has said that Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo, Houston Rockets’ James Harden and Oklahoma City Thunders’ Paul George should all be awarded MVP.

The three All-Star starters have been at the top of their game this year and are the favourites for the top individual prize at the end of the season.

When asked about his prediction for MVP, Lowry said that all three deserved to win:

“The three top guys, of course, James [Harden], Giannis, and PG [Paul George]. My prediction? Yeah, PG’s making a strong point. And James is playing great — I think they should just give all three the MVP. That’s my choice.”

The Raptors made some big changes to the lineup ahead of the trade deadline bringing in veteran center Marc Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies and Jeremy Lin from Atlanta. Lowry spoke of what the new additions brings to the side, saying:

“It brings toughness, experience. It brings Marc with his passing abilities, his play-making abilities. It brings a different type of look from the inside. With Jeremy, it gives us a pace guy, a fast, another scorer, a guy who can get to the basket, penetrate. Those two bring a lot to the table.”

Lowry’s Raptors side face Nikola Vucevic and the Orlando Magic this weekend as part of NBA Sundays and Vucevic is raring to get into the second half of the season following the NBA All-Star Weekend.

The 7’0 center said: “I think it’s good that we had a little break, regroup, and come back. I think we feel good about ourselves. I know we have good confidence within ourselves. We’re good to go for the rest of the season.”

Kyle Lowry – Toronto Raptors

Q. What do you Marc [Gasol] and Jeremy [Lin] bring to the team that you guys didn’t have before?

KYLE LOWRY: It brings toughness, experience. It brings Marc with his passing abilities, his play-making abilities. It brings a different type of look from the inside. And then with Jeremy, it gives a pace guy, a fast, another scorer, a guy who can get to the basket, penetrate. Yes, it’s a lot that those two bring.

Q. Can you share with us your prediction for this season’s MVP?

KYLE LOWRY: The three top guys, of course, James [Harden], Giannis, and PG [Paul George]. My prediction? Man, I’m going to go with Giannis. I just think the way their team’s playing. I know it’s going to depend on how the season finishes up, but they’re one of the top teams in the league. Yeah, PG’s making a strong point. And James is kind of like — I think they should just give all three the MVP. That’s my choice.

Nikola Vucevic – Orlando Magic

Q. The Magic have been playing well coming into the All-Star break. Do you think the break came at a bad time?

NIKOLA VUCEVIC: I don’t think so necessarily. I think we needed the break. It’s been obviously a lot of teams, and everybody has played a lot of games. I think it’s good that we had a little break, regroup, and come back. I think we feel good about ourselves. I know we have good confidence within ourselves. We’re good to go for the rest of the season.
