In an interview with the Spanish Cadena SER, EuroLeague CEO Jordi Bertomeu referred to the recent incidents that took place in the national cup competitions.
The experienced executive talked about the possibility elite clubs, like Real Madrid, Olympiacos and Anadolu Efes, playing in the EuroLeague, even if they leave their domestic leagues.
“There is a possibility that a team plays in the EuroLeague without playing in its domestic competitions. EuroLeague is a company, not a federation.
The owners make the decisions. They make the best decisions for the competition, which allows us to avoid some bureaucratic procedures. The future can bring many changes. As a company, we must be flexible.
The owners will decide through a revision of three rules. If needed, there will be a modification. In this case, the clubs would study the rules and determine what is best for the company,” Bertomeu stated.
