Everton Tigers is scouting for the basketball stars of the future with the launch of its Training Academy.
The team is giving young people the opportunity to join the structure that produced the BBL Cup winners, and who last season finished second in the League.
Everton Tigers Basketball Academy, in partnership with Childwall Sports College, will enable students to be trained by Tigers coaching staff while completing their studies.
Pupils will train for up to 12 hours per week with Tigers coach Tony Garbelotto and current players including Centre Chris Haslam.
Garbelotto, Director of the Basketball Academy, said: "Everton Tigers have had a hugely successful two seasons and we want to build on this by looking for the stars of the future.
"We want to attract the top young talent from the region to train to a professional level via the Academy.
"This is an incredible opportunity for any young player who shows commitment and will complement their studies as well as developing their athletic abilities."
Childwall Sports College offers courses for 16 to 19- year-olds including GCSE and A-Level studies as well as NVQ, Intermediate and Level 3 courses.
Adrian Whiteley, Deputy Headteacher at Childwall Sports College, said: "The Tigers Academy will allow students to focus on developing their basketball skills alongside their studies.
"It will enhance the opportunities offered to pupils when they complete this stage of their education. At Childwall, we are proud of the success of our sixth form education and we believe that any young person who attends the Academy will be getting the very best academic resource in the Merseyside region."
The Academy currently has 15 places to offer. Students will play a number of competitive games per season and enter into national competitions.
