Daniel Theis of the Boston Celtics shared his thoughts with the media about his countryman Dirk Nowitzki’s inclusion in the NBA All-Star Game.

Q: What did you think of Dirk getting selected to the All-Star Game?

A: It’s great for him. At the end of his career now, being part of another All-Star Game, which is great. It’s a big honor and a it shows lot of respect from the league for him and his career.

Q: What do you think his role will be on Team Giannis?

A: He’ll probably get a post-up for his shot, for a fadaway for a three. I think they’re going to set him up to at least get a bucket, to make him a part of it, make him happy and it would give the whole crowd a boost as well.

Q: What do you think he’ll be like as a coach for Team World?

A: I’m sure he’ll just try to have some fun. It could be the first steps into coaching – who knows. Being on the sideline, maybe he’ll get a little taste of it to see if he’s enjoying it or not.

Q: How would you rate his chances in the 3-point contest?

A: Maybe he’ll get some extra time [laughs]. I think he’s still a great shooter, so his chances are still pretty good, I’d say. Hopefully he’ll make it to the final round, I hope he wins the whole thing!

Q: Are you going to be watching your teammate Jayson Tatum?

A: Yeah, I’m going to watch him. I watched it last year, too. I’m going to watch it, with my feet up, relaxing a little bit. I’ll also watch because Kyrie’s a coach as well.
