The new FIBA Intercontinental Cup trophy unveiled

Ahead of the FIBA Intercontinental Cup next week (February 15-17), the new trophy has been unveiled.

The trophy’s design utilizes a contemporary mix of gold and silver. Its defining feature is a sweeping curved upright which rises to support a polished basketball.

It was designed by TwelfthMan’s Michael Berthon and crafted by Bertoni, the workshop responsible for the FIFA World Cup trophy. Its height is 55 centimeters and its weight 9.6 kilos.

The FIBA Intercontinental Cup will see San Lorenzo face the Austin Spurs and AEK Athens battle Flamengo.

The competition will take place at the Carioca 1 Arena in Rio de Janeiro. It will be played in a Final Four format, with two Semi-Finals on February 15, followed by a third-place Game and Final two days later.
