Dennis Smith Jr: “I think that was important for me, with everything that was going on”

Dennis Smith Jr. played as a starter in his debut with the New York Knicks and posted eight points, three rebounds and six assists in 26 minutes of action against the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night.

After the game, the point guard said, per ESPN: “I think that was important for me, with everything that was going on… I knew about [Knicks head coach David] Fizdale from the Grizzlies. I was a fan of him. I feel like it’s a big opportunity for me. I’ve just got to make the most of it.”

In his age-21 season, Dennis Smith Jr. is averaging 12.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game, while shooting at 43.7 percent from the floor and 33.6 percent from three in 28.3 minutes of action.
