Venezia secured its place in the BCL playoffs

Venezia stood tall in France and defeated Nanterre in overtime (80-89) to advance to the knockout stage of the Basketball Champions League.

Andrea De Nicolao made a two-pointer at the buzzer and forced an overtime (74-74).

In the extra period, the hosts remained scoreless in the last three minutes and 20 seconds and saw the visitors outscore them 6-15 to earn the victory.

Mitchell Watt led the winners, with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Julyan Stone came close to the triple double, with 15 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

MarQuez Haynes added 12 points and six assists, with De Nicolao contributing 11 points.

Jeremy Senglin had a game-high 25 points for the losing squad, with Adas Juskevicius posting 12.

Venezia improved to 9-4, whereas Nanterre dropped to 7-6. The French team will now face Holon in a winner-takes-all game in Israel next week.

The second day of the 13th round also saw PAOK, Promitheas Patras and Besiktas qualify to the playoffs.

PAOK (8-5) dominated Fribourg (3-10) on the road (64-84), while Promitheas (8-5) advanced to the knockouts stage, despite the loss to Neptunas (7-6) at home (69-82).

Besiktas (8-5) also reached the next stage of the competition, after its win over Oostende (7-6) on Tuesday (80-71).
