Maccabi thinking about the new season already

Sarunas JasikeviciusSarunas Jasikevicius might eventually wear the yellow jersey next season after three years and one Euroleague title with Panathinaikos. 33-year-old Lithuanian star was always linked with Maccabi Tel Aviv ever since he left them for NBA. Though he was too expensive for the Israeli club. But now it seems to be the right moment for Maccabi to bring Saras back after his recent injuries and little playing time in Greece. His contract expires this summer but Panathinaikos have the option to extend the contract.

Reigning Euroleague champions Panathinaikos failed to reach the quarter-finals this season and The Greens might be looking at other options instead of keeping veteran point guard. On the other hand, Jasikevicius clearly stated that the reason why joined Panathinaikos was Zeljko Obradovic, who will stay with the club despite a disastrous season in Euroleague.

According to some reports, Mario Kasun was offered to Maccabi for almost half of the deal that he is getting in Efes Pilsen. The two-year €1.2M per season contract of a 30-year-old Croatian center runs out in summer. Kasun averaged 8 points in almost 16 minutes per game in Euroleague for the Turkish club. Efes Pilsen are looking to build a new team after their recent failures in Europe and Kasun could be among the players who will be leaving the team in summer.

Zoran Planinic is rumoured to be considered by Maccabi too. 27-year-old Croatian guard spent past two seasons in Russia with CSKA Moscow. He averaged 7.8 points per game in EUroleague this season.

Another name mentioned among potential additions is 20-year-old Serbian forward Milan Macvan from Hemofarm Stada. He averaged 9.5 points per game in six games in Eurocup.
