Bayern Munich guard Petteri Koponen discussed with TalkBasket.net regarding his negotiations with Panathinaikos in the off-season.

Here is what Koponen said, after the loss of the Germans to the “Greens” on Wednesday (77-67):

On what went wrong in the game: “The first quarter. The difference was there.

We played well in the next three quarters, but the first one cost us the victory. It is not easy to win here, we had to play better on both ends.”

On whether this defeat can affect them mentally: “You don’t have time to think about it. We have to get ready for the next game.

The EuroLeague season is long and we have to focus on each game separately and try to win.”

On the team’s high expectations, after a good start to the season (9-9): “We have also put high expectations. We always focus on the next game.

We are newcomers in the league and try to prove we belong here. So far is good, but we have to keep fighting.”

On Panathinaikos interest in signing him: “We were in talks during the summer. I even talked with coach Pascual, but couldn’t reach an agreement. It would be an honour to play for such a great club, like Panathinaikos.

But, now I play for Bayern, I am happy here and I want to help the team win and try to have a good season here.”
