ALBA Berlin victorious over Monaco in Top 16 opener

ALBA Berlin endured the come-back of Monaco from a double-digit deficit and started Top 16 with a big win at home (83-74).

The Germans had control of the game from the opening tip (18-15, 44-38) and closed the third quarter in front by 12 (65-53).

The visitors attempted to turn things around (70-66), yet the hosts stood tall and brought the lead back to double digits (80-68) to seal the deal.

Five players scored in double figures for the winners, with Luke Sikma leading the way with 17 points.

Elmedin Kikanovic (26 points, eight rebounds) and Paul Lacombe (20 points, 10 boards) stood out for the losing squad.

ALBA Berlin opened Top 16 in a successful way (1-0), whereas Monaco dropped to 0-1 in Group E.

In Group F, Ratiopharm Ulm edged Fraport Skyliners at home (70-63) and extended their winning streak to three games, as they had won their last two regular season matches.

Javonte Green (20 points) and Patrick Miller (15 points and eight assists) were the best players of the winners.

Jason Clark had 18 points (4/6 from beyond the arc) and eight rebounds for the losing squad, which played without six players. Quantez Robertson scored 13 and grabbed eight boards.
