Big win for Unicaja in the season opener

Unicaja Malaga hosted Real Madrid in their first game of the new ACB season and they were well prepared. Aito Garcia Reneses who led Spain to Olympic silver in summer is in charge of the Andalusian team. His new team dominated right from the start. Real Madrid managed to cut their lead to 5 points several. But it was Unicaja ahead all the time.

Although Real Madrid resisted for three quarters, their resistance was broken in the end. Unicaja made a few runs and their lead reached 22 points. It was all too late for the capital team as they tried to reduce the lead. A win for Unicaja 82:65.

Berni Rodriguez missed the game for Unicaja but his teammates did their job well. Marcus Haislip led the scoring for Unicaja with 16 points.

Only one player scored in double digits for Real Madrid – Felipe Reyes had 13 points.
