Nine-men Zalgiris too strong for PAO

ZalgirisZalgiris defeated Greek giants Panathinaikos 80:69 in Moscow to take Alexandr Gomelsky Cup and 45,000 Euros. Paulius Jankunas and Ratko Varda both had 15 points for Zalgiris. Both teams will meet each other in Euroleague first round in Athens. Zeljko Obradovic took two time-outs in the dying minutes but they changed nothing.

Lithuanian champions will surely come in a good mood to the Presidents Cup later this weeked. 45,000 Euros should also come in handy for the club.

Panathinaikos were lead by the players from last season. Estratios Perperoglu and Mike Batiste both scored 12 points with 10 coming from Sarunas Jasikevicius.

CSKA Moscow gave a chance to their fans to be happy after last year's Euroleague final replay against Maccabi Tel-Aviv. Russian giants celebrated a convincing win 76:59. Third quarter was crucial as CSKA let only 7 points in their basket and managed to score 26.

Erazem Lorbek was the top scorer for CSKA with 22 points while Carlos Arroyo had 13 for Maccabi.
