The Milwaukee Bucks forward, Giannis Antetokounmpo, refused the idea to train with the leading NBA players, such as LeBron James or Carmelo Anthony, in the offseason.
Speaking about his decision, the 24-year-old player said, per The Athletic: “I can’t work out with you in the summer and then play you in a few months…It feels weird. It doesn’t feel right with me. Like other players, it’s cool for other players, but I don’t. I don’t want to. Other guys do it.”
According to the Greek Freak, training with the other teams’ leaders might be negative afterwards – opponents will know how to stop you. For illustration of a situation, Antetokounmpo gave an example of Kevin Durant’s training with LeBron James: “I feel like with LeBron and KD [Kevin Durant], KD did that to LeBron…Take a lot of his thoughts and use it against him. And that’s what I don’t want guys doing to me.”(ibid)
