In spite of being defeated by Montenegro on the road (71-66), Turkey became the seventh European team that advanced to the World Cup.
Although they dropped to 7-3, the Turks have tie-breakers over Ukraine, Montenegro and Latvia, so they have secured their place in China, joining Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Lithuania and Spain.
On the other hand, Montenegro improved to 6-4 and remained alive in the qualification race.
Nikola Jovanovic had a game-high 21 points for the winners, with Bojan Dubljevic posting a double-double (17 points and 12 rebounds).
Semih Erden and Dogus Balbay had 14 points apiece for the losing squad, as Scottie Wilbekin added 13.
