Khimki survived Zalgiris Kaunas in late thriller

Khimki stood tall and escaped from Kaunas with a big win over Zalgiris (83-84). The Russians were victorious for the second straight time.

Zalgiris made a better start to the game (26-19), yet Khimki reacted and conceded just 13 points to cut the deficit to two at halftime (39-37).

In the second half, Alexey Shved exploded and helped the visitors take a seven-point lead (63-70). The hosts, though, went on a 13-8 run and were down by two, with two minutes to go (76-78).

The Russians stood tall again (81-84) and won the game, as Milaknis missed the three-pointer and the opportunity to force an overtime.

Shved had just two points in the first 17 minutes, but scored 23 until the end of the game. He finished the game with 25 points and 10 assists to give his team the win. Jordan Mickey added 20 points and seven rebounds for the winners.

On the other hand, Brandon Davies led the losing squad with 23 points and 13 rebounds, as Aaron White posted 12 points and nine boards.

Both teams now have identical records (3-6).
