Olympiacos past Real Madrid in a hustle

The first loss came in Piraeus for Real Madrid, after 13 consecutive wins in the Euroleague. The absences of Sergio Llull and Gustavo Ayòn complicated Round 9 for Real Madrid.

The game started with wide-open shots and good percentages from downtown from both teams, but Olympiacos, energized by its fans, stretched the lead in the first half (52-41).

In the second half, Real Madrid was capable of playing under pressure and Facundo Campazzo dished assists to his teammates and tied the game (65-65).

In the fourth quarter, Janis Strelnieks was a decisive player coming off the bench, but Vassilis Spanoulis (20 points) and Nigel Williams-Goss (23 points) stood out and led the way for Olympiacos win.

The Greek squad improved to 5-4 in the standings, whilst Real Madrid dropped to the second place (8-1).
